Determining dielectric properties of nematic liquid crystals at microwave frequencies using inverted microstrip lines

In this paper, we have investigated the dielectric properties of nematic liquid crystals (NLCs) by measuring resonant frequencies inverted microstrip lines (IMSLs) NLC being substrate material at microwave frequency band. The designed IMSL devices consist a cavity for mixture between line and ground plane. anisotropy values NLCs were determined observing change when strength external electric fields applied on varied. experiments demonstrated that effective constant can be manipulated proposed via bias voltage tuning. accuracy method determining constants JC-M-LC-E7 (JC-E7) QYPD-036 LCs was analysed with several prototypes based two separate designs. high 91% in permittivity determination demonstrated, design fabrication techniques are beneficial making components tunability.
